How to set up USB connection?

1.) Turn on the Developer Options. (If instructions below doesn’t work for your phone check on Google how to do it).

  • Go to “Settings”, then tap “About device” or “About phone”.
  • Scroll down, then tap “Build number” seven times. (Depending on your device and operating system, you may need to tap “Software information”, then tap “Build number” seven times).
  • Enter your pattern, PIN or password to enable the Developer options menu.

The “Developer options” menu will now appear in your Settings menu. (Depending on your device, it may appear under Settings > General > Developer options).

2.) Enable MIDI. (If instructions below doesn’t work for your phone check on Google how to do it).

  • Go to “Settings” -> “Additional settings” -> “Developer options”.
  • Scroll down to “Networking” section and tap on “Default USB configuration”.
  • Select MIDI option.

USB MIDI is now enabled on your phone.

3.) Connect your Android device with Laptop/PC using USB cable.

4.) Open “melodi” app.

  • If USB is not selected go to “Options”.
  • In “Connection” section select “USB”.
  • Go back, click on “USB” button and select USB port. (If there are multiple ports try picking each one until you find one that works with your daw).

5.) Open your DAW. (In this case we use FL Studio 12).

  • Go to “Options” -> “MIDI settings”.
  • In “Input” section click on “MIDI function” and enable it by selecting “Enable”.
